Baduy Culture

Blume, the 18 century Dutch traveler thought that Baduy is a savage people who live in the remote area of the highland of Kendeng mountain, Banten Province Indonesia. From his travel experience deep into the village he found out the people of Nobel. The adventure he had during his visit to the village of Baduy was written on his book, In Search of Nobel Savage.

The Baduy reject the convenience of modern lifestyle. They prefer to live unchanged the way their ancestor do. Although the village is not far from Jakarta, the Baduy enjoy the simplicity of life.

Nowadays, the people of Baduy, which they call themselves "Urang Kanekes" or Kanekes People, still live unchaged since Blume traveled there and will always welcome you to visit the village as one of their sacred duty. Traveling responsibly into the peaceful village of Baduy, where a solitude peace awaits you, will give you new adventure experience.

If tourists have discovered this place, the inhabitants will surely change over time.

Yes Peggy, sure. I believe so. Unfortunately, they are now on the verge of perpetual losing balance, since the Government cannot forbid tourist to come and The Baduy People cannot avoid the encounter. It leaves the responsibility to the travelers, at least not to see them as 'human artifact,' but they're visiting somebody else's house with a set of full respect, moral and ethic.
